After enjoying the advantage of a partial holiday on Tuesday (Shivaji Jayanti) in Maharashtra, Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt’s Gully Boy witnessed a noticeable dip yesterday at the ticket windows. The musical drama raked in Rs 6 crore and now stands with the grand total of Rs 95.15 crore. It is set to enter the Rs 100 crore club today and will become the third consecutive film of Ranveer Singh to achieve this feat after Padmaavat and Simmba.
Since Total Dhamaal is arriving this Friday, audience will get divided but still, it won’t impact the business of Gully Boy since the target audience for the ventures are completely different. The film has already recovered a huge chunk before its release through satellite, digital and music rights. Talking about the reviews, our editor-in-chief Tushar Joshi gave the film 5 stars and wrote, “Gully Boy is definitely a landmark film that will shine bright on Ranveer and Alia’s eclectic resumes. This is also Zoya’s best work till date and a film that will resonate with anyone who believes in dreams and their manifestation.”
Gully Boy is directed by Zoya Akhtar, who previously helmed films like Dil Dhadakne Do, Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara and Luck By Chance. It is produced under the banners of Tiger Baby and Excel Entertainment and also stars Kalki Koechlin, Vijay Varma, Amruta Subhash, Vijay Maurya, Siddhant Chaturvedi and Vijay Raaz in key roles.
